A carjacker can be a driver’s worst nightmare—especially when you are in the comfort of your own driveway. How many times have we all been like this woman—pulling into our house and letting the dog out while we collect our things and prepare to unwind? A better question is how many of us would be able to spot and do something about a carjacker pulling up behind us?
According to statistics, approximately 38,000 carjackers strike each year. Almost half of those involve firearms or some sort of weapon. In total, about 63 percent perform this crime within five miles of the victims’ home. That certainly seems to be the case in this video, since this brave woman was only a few feet from her front door.
All of these shocking factors make it even more surprising that she was able to spring into action and do the right thing. Despite the State Department’s advice that you should probably just give up your vehicle when a carjacker approaches, she did not. However, she didn’t try to combat these criminals either. Instead, she hopped in the car and punched it into reverse.
There is no word whether these would-be crooks were captured, unfortunately. We just hope her dog didn’t get loose as a result of these idiotic attackers.
