A couple years ago, if there was any utterance of someone conspiring to assassinate the president of the United States the entire country would be up in arms. But now, the country is so divided that there are actually people supporting the folly.

A search on Dataminr for the keywords “assassinate Trump” showed that there have been more than 12,000 tweets calling for the assassination of Donald Trump.

Most of these threats have not been deemed to put the president in direct danger but the secret service analyzes the danger of each plausible threat very carefully. Former Secret Service special agent Tim Franklin stated that ‘they’re not going to beat down the door of everybody who makes a negative Twitter comment.”

But even though a majority of the Twitter users aren’t penalized for their action, the Secret Service keeps an eye on those who make repeated threats and those who detail a plan as to how they intend to assassinate the President.

Below are a few tweets:

One Twitter user that caught the attention of the Secret Service was Zachary Benson from Fairview Park, Ohio.

On election day he tweeted: “Diplomacy. F***ing fools. I hate you all. I want to bomb every one of your voting booths and your general areas.”

A little while after that, he tweeted again: “My life goal is to assassinate Trump. Don’t care if I serve infinite sentences. That man deserves to decease existing.”

And obviously, this incredibly stupid tweet landed him in jail and he faces up to five years in prison if convicted.

Another Twitter user that caught the attention of the Secret Service was Heather Lowrey of Kentucky:

Many of you might think that these are all empty threats but let’s consider what James T Hodgkinson did on Wednesday. These crazy Liberals are violent and dangerous and they need to be taken off the street before they cause harm to innocent people.
