With the Obama administration the ICE and their scope of operation were really stifled — but with Trump, the reins are off! The ICE can actually do their jobs and the results were basically instant. Just Tuesday, the ICE announced that over 1000 gang members involved in “transnational criminal activity” have been arrested.
These gang members were murderers and rapists and some, I assume were good people…..actually, I take that back — there were all bad people as ICE stated that the majority were confirmed gang members with a lot of them with ties to the Bloods, the Crips, and MS-13.
America can rejoice that these “BAD HOMBRES” are now off of the streets.
The arrests were all part of a six-week operation between March 26-May 6 to get gang members off the streets. ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) was in the charge of the operation, enlisting aid from state and local law enforcement around the country.
Many of the arrests made were from Houston, New York, Atlanta, and Newark.
“Gangs threaten the safety of our communities, not just in major metropolitan areas but in our suburbs and rural areas, too,” Acting Director for ICE Thomas Homan said. He also stated that “efforts to dismantle gangs are much more effective in areas where partnership with local law enforcement is strongest.”
Attorney General Jeff Sessions had made a statement before the news that signaled to America that the government will be cracking down on gang members. And it clearly wasn’t just an empty promise.
“If you are a gang member, we will find you,” Sessions said, according to CBS News. “We will devastate your networks. We will starve your revenue sources, deplete your ranks, and seize your profits. We will not concede a single block or a street corner to your vicious tactics.”
Now, it should be noted that not all the criminals arrested were illegal aliens. As a matter of fact, 955 of the arrested, were US citizens while 445 were foreign nationals. Three were under the protection of Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
So, the ICE got rid of some bad US citizens in the process as well. Not a bad day. Not a bad day at all.
“During this operation, HSI and its partner law enforcement agencies seized 238 firearms; various narcotics including 790.15 ounces of cocaine, 546.96 ounces of methamphetamine, 113.42 ounces of heroin, 1.59 ounces of fentanyl, and 8,019.46 ounces of marijuana; and $491,763 in U.S currency,” ICE reported.
The ICE is finally doing their job and I really do hope that they continue this good that they have begun.
