Clinton: This Is Why I Lost To Trump

Why do you think Hillary Clinton lost the US election? It could be the leaking of her emails and the FBI’s investigation against her. Or it could just be that the people of America wanted a new kind of leader. There are a million reasons, in my opinion, that can justify her lost but the real question we should be asking now is, why does Hillary Clinton think she lost?

Clinton has been away from the public eye since her election defeat but on Thursday, she finally made herself available for an interview at the Women in the World Summit in New York City. And when asked by Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times about the reason she lost she said that misogyny was a real factor.

“Certainly, misogyny played a role. That has to be admitted,” Clinton said.

A lot of people just weren’t in favor of electing a female president, according to Clinton.

And even though Clinton has had very powerful positions in government in the past, they were all under the directive of a man. And this is why Clinton believes that breaking the glass ceiling in America to ascend to the highest position of power in the country is so difficult, and unpopular.

Another noteworthy statement made by Clinton was about her take on the Syria situation. When she was asked about it, she said that we “should take out his airfields and prevent him from being able to bomb innocent people and drop sarin gas on them.”

Later that night, Donald Trump did exactly that.

Now, Clinton’s claim that misogyny had a part to play in her defeat is very considerable. But was it the strongest factor at play? I don’t think so. The fact that she got the most popular vote means that a lot of people came out in support of her, despite her gender. I personally think that it is most possible for a woman to become the President of the United States, that woman just isn’t Hillary Clinton.
