Despite Hillary Clinton’s obviously poor handling of classified information, her State Department security clearances are still very much intact—an entire year after the FBI labeled her as “extremely careless” with classified and highly sensitive information.
Back in July 2015, Comey made a statement entailing Clinton and seven of her top aides were “extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.”
“There is evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information,” Comey added.
Senator and Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee Chuck Grassley (R-IA) released the information on Friday regarding Clinton and her top aides’ security clearances. He did at as a way to point out the State Department’s slow, ineffective, bureaucratic system.
Grassley’s office said: “The State Department confirmed that it is continuing to review the mishandling of classified information that passed through Secretary Hillary Clinton’s unauthorized email server as she and seven, former aides retain access to sensitive information.”
The State Department definitely needs a good shake up if someone as careless as Hillary Clinton could still have her security clearances intact. It’s risky and could possibly put lives at risk if sensitive information gets into the wrong hands. Let’s hope that this situation can be resolved soon.
