The waste of taxpayer money by the Obama administration doesn’t appear to have ended since President Trump took office. The new President cannot be blamed for the continued waste–his administration is working around the clock to identify the various instances of insanity (and negligence) from the “Obama years.” Now, it has been brought to the pentagon’s attention that Obama spent $300 million of taxpayer money on fake Afghan soldiers.
Surprisingly, John Sopko, who is the “special inspector general for Afghanistan reconstruction” has said that the fake soldiers in Afghanistan were a problem that was talked about for many years. In fact, he even claimed that the President of Afghanistan warned him about these fake people, who he referred to as “ghosts.”
Where did the hundreds of millions of dollars go for these fake people? If the US was told about these “ghosts,” why was money still being stolen from taxpayers to be given to them?
As reported, “Millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars were being foolishly wasted paying for the salaries of non-existent “ghost” soldiers and policemen in Afghanistan under the Obama administration, but no more.”
“What we’re talking about are policemen, Afghan policemen, Afghan military, Afghan civil servants who don’t exist or they have multiple identity cards and we’re paying their salaries,” he explained. “By ‘we’ I mean the United States and the international community. And we started finding out that we had no capacity to measure the number of soldiers, teachers, doctors, military people who we are paying their salaries.”
With a long history of scandals by the Obama administration–with cover-ups following shortly after–it’s hard not to think this massive example of incompetence would have ever been made public under Hillary Clinton. What will we find out about next?
