The firing of now-former FBI Director James Comey has earned Trump quite a bit of scorn from the liberal media and democrats across the nation–and his latest tweet aimed at Comey will most likely cause the same outcome. On the morning of May 12, Trump sent out a tweet that could come off as threatening, at least perhaps if you’re James Comey. As reported, “James Comey better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!” Trump wrote on Twitter.
Apparently, the tweet was sent out in response to conflicting reports about some important conversations that were had between the two men. In a recent interview, Trump reportedly said that Comey had requested to have dinner with him, and that Comey told him not once but three times that he was not the subject of any FBI investigations. Past and present government employees have wasted no time throwing their two cents in–with one former senior official reportedly claiming that Comey “would never have told the president that he was not under investigation.”
Other officials claim that Trump requested the dinner, not Comey. As Comey reportedly recounts the dinner, Trump asked for his political loyalty and was denied. However, White House officials have publicly disputed this claim, stating that Trump would never ask Comey for some kind of personal loyalty and they “don’t believe this to be an accurate account” of their dinner meeting.
These kinds of “he said she said” situations rarely end well, but it appears that Trump may be well prepared to fight back.
