Senator Rand Paul has quickly become a voice for Trump voters against Paul Ryan’s (recently failed) healthcare bill, which has been called “Obamacare 2.0.” The bill was said to not repeal and replace Obamacare, which was a promise Donald Trump made at events across the country during his presidential campaign.
Many voters have been worried about Republicans true intentions, especially after their initial disastrous healthcare plan. Republicans had been fighting against Obamacare for years, and as soon as they are able to do something about it, it seems like that they have no plans of actually getting rid of it. Were Republicans lying to their constituents all these years, thinking they would never be faced with the ability to kick Obamacare to the curb?
Trump voters are worried that Paul Ryan, who is part of the Republican Establishment, cannot be trusted due to his connection to insiders. Luckily, Trump has just met with Rand Paul — someone voters can trust. Will this be the start of a new relationship between the two outsiders?
As reported by WTOP, “President Donald Trump brought Sen. Rand Paul to his Virginia golf course on Sunday to talk health policy with the outspoken critic of the failed plan to repeal and replace so-called Obamacare.
The outing to Trump National Golf Club came hours after Trump tweeted that talks on replacing the law have been going on and “will continue until such time as a deal is hopefully struck.”
He added that anyone who thinks the effort is dead “does not know the love and strength in R Party!”
Trump golfed and discussed policy with Paul and budget director Mick Mulvaney, said White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham.”
Trump has spent a lot of time with insiders; it’s worth noting that he was elected because of his outsider status. Matt Drudge has recently said that Senator Rand Paul is the best Senator in the United States, so it’s safe to say that the meeting between Paul and Trump has been a cause for celebration by many on the right.
